¡Hola! Me llamo Señora Katie DiVito y soy maestra de español. I have twenty years of experience teaching and tutoring Spanish to children of all ages. I taught ten years in the school setting in New Jersey, South Carolina, and North Carolina. I have spent the past ten years teaching independently, in the homes of my students, and most recently, out of my home.
I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Spanish Education and furthered my education by completing a graduate program for world language teachers at Rutgers University. My educational background and personal experience teaching my students and raising my children has taught me a lot about how children learn language, or more appropriately stated, acquire language. I incorporate current language acquisition methodologies into my lessons and a variety of activities to guide students towards proficiency.
I consider myself an acquisition-driven educator and utilize comprehensible storytelling as my main teaching tool. What this means is that your your child will receive a substantial amount of input (what they hear and read) that is compelling and understandable via stories, songs, and interactive activities.
